Early Policing Talk by Lee Timmons

To celebrate National Police Memorial Day, Lee Timmons will be presenting his talk on Early Policing in the setting of our beautiful barn.

“Policing has not always been as we know it. The Metropolitan Police Act of 1829 became a blueprint for change, creating the police force that we have today. So what existed before that date? Not the vacuum that some perhaps imagine, because all societies need some means of maintaining law and order if they are to survive. The talk looks at the various attempts at policing before1829.”
